Team & Role Request Form

Sport Education Unit · Lesson 1

Each student will take on one or more roles on their team (more than one if the team has fewer than 6 students). Read the descriptions below and decide which roles you would like to serve for your team. Then complete the form at the bottom with your top 3 choices in order of preference. You may also list up to 3 students you would like to be on a team with.

Captain

  • Plans practice sessions using the training drills outlined in the curriculum
  • Leads team reflections about what they are doing well and areas for improvement

Relay Team Coordinator

  • Determines the order for relay events
  • Assigns doubles partners

Data Manager

  • Keeps track of team members' timing sheets
  • Leads initial team ranking head-to-head matches and challenge matches
  • Examines dual meet results to help the Captain understand which areas need improvement

Equipment Manager

  • Makes sure the team's table is set up with equipment for practice
  • Checks that timers are working properly and cups are in good condition
  • Measures and tapes relay lines for practice and dual meets
  • Sets up display timers for dual meets (if available)

Board Member

  • Liaison between their team and the teacher
  • Attends Board Meetings to problem solve as needed with other team Board Members and the teacher

Public Relations Manager

  • Works with the Data Manager to make the team Wall of Fame with personal bests and team stats
  • Works with the other Public Relations Managers to maintain the Results Board once dual meets begin
  • Works with the other Public Relations Managers to plan the Awards Ceremony and StackFest Celebration Event
