Match Play

2 Teams of 4 to 5 players compete Head to Head in 5 events.

Stacking League

2 Teams of 4 to 8 players compete Head to Head in 5 events.

Event 1 - 3-6-3 HTH Relay

Teams race on 'ready-set-go' and 1 round consists of 3 races. Best 2 out of 3 rounds determines the 'Event' winner and this team is awarded one point.

Event 2 - Individuals

Match Play organizer determines which pattern is played (3-3-3, 3-6-3, Cycle). This is usually based on the age of the students. Younger do 3-3-3 and older do Cycle.

Individuals race on 'ready-set-go'. Each set of stackers do 3 attempts with best 2 out of 3 attempts winning the round. First team to win three rounds, wins the 'Event' and is awarded one point.

This format causes coaches to strategize their order of stackers and the order from each team is determined ahead of the event. 5 rounds because of 5 sets of stackers (a set of stackers = 2, one from each team competing HTH for the best time).

Event 3 - Doubles (Cycle)

'Ready-set-go' format with two doubles pairs (one from each team) racing each other. Three attempts per round and best 2 out of 3 rounds wins the 'Event'. Winning team is awarded one point.

Event 4 - 3-6-3 Timed Relay

Teams of four stackers from each team compete. 2 teams compete at a time, each taking turns (not HTH style). 3 rounds.

Each team goes separately and the team behind in 'Event' points (based on the first 3 Matches above) going into this event goes first. Once the first team goes, that is the time to beat. Each team has a maximum of three attempts to beat the best time.

Example: Team 1's first attempt is 20.002 secs. Team 2's first attempt is 21.354 seconds. Team 2 goes again (2 attempts) to try and beat team 1's time of 20.002 seconds. If they beat it, say with 19.653 seconds, then team 1 goes and has 2 attempts left to beat the new best time of 19.653 secs. If team 2 didn't beat team 1 original time, they would go again (third attempt) to try and beat it.

The winning team is awarded one point.

Event 5 - HTH Relay

Same as 'Event 1' where pattern (3-3-3, 3-6-3, Cycle) is pre-determined based on skill/age level. This event is run exactly like WSSA sanctioned tournament HTH relays, except no penalty points. Best 2 out of 3 runs wins the round. The winning team is awarded one point.

When a team commits an infraction (penalty points in a standard tournament HTH), this team stops while the other team continues. Assuming the other team has no infractions, that team wins the run. If the other team also has an infraction, the run is a 'tie' and the round is repeated.

The team with the most 'Event' points, wins the Match.
