Players warm up completing any patterns they choose.
Club Meeting (10 minutes)
Explain that they ended their last meeting learning about Head to Head Relays. This
week they are going to start with more Head to Head Relays using the Cycle.
Groups will run 2 rounds of Head to Head Relays to learn the two different formats.
The first time they run the races against two teams, they will use penalty points to
determine the winner. The second time, they will use Stacking League Rules (any
penalty is a loss).
Group Training (30 minutes)
Make teams of 4.
Put 3 teams at each table.
2 teams will race. The third team will split up into pairs and be the judges for each team.
Judges stand at the side of the mat and at the start line.
One of the judges says Ready, Set, Go and the teams race.
Judges then discuss the penalty points and determine the winner.
When a match has been completed between the two teams, then the judging team
switches with one of th teams and races that team. The other team becomes the judging
team.
Complete the activity until all the teams have raced and judged.
Then, complete the entire process again using Stacking League Rules (scratches=a loss
rather than penalty points)
Discussion (10 minutes)
Bring the club together and discuss their thoughts and understanding on the two
versions. Are the strategies different based on the format? Why or why not?
