Students gather in front of the teacher who gives an overview of the unit.
Students set up tables and put a mat and timer on each corner of the table with a set of cups.
Teacher teaches the 3 competitive stacks pausing after each one to let students practice or uses the online video tutorials to teach the stacks while circulating around the room to help students. If using the video, pause as needed to support students and review content.
Hand out the Team and Role Request Forms for students to complete.
Read over the roles and have students complete the form.
Collect the forms.
Discuss the Positive Pyramid Topic of the Day: What team sport experiences have you had before, if any? What did you enjoy about them? What did you not enjoy about them? What would you like to get out of this sports experience?
Clean up equipment and tables.
Before the next class, the teacher assigns teams and selects Board Members. Because matches are dual meets, it is best if there are an even number of teams if that's possible.
